About Me

Thank you for visiting my tutoring site! I am a Scottish online humanities tutor and mum of three, living just outside of Shaftesbury, Dorset. I am an experienced secondary independent school teacher of History and Head of Religious Studies. In addition to this, I have Teaching Assistant experience at primary level and 10 years as a secondary Cover Supervisor - covering and adapting every subject under the sun!

An opportunity was presented to me during the pandemic, to move my skills online. Since then, in addition to teahcing GCSE and A Level at an independent school, I have grown my online tutoring. This is now my main business and I am currently teaching a number of examined subjects and non-examined subjects to amazing children like yours.

The more I work with these groups of young people, the bigger my heart gets for this work. I have a personal 'pull' towards supporting those with additional needs, such as ASD, dyslexia and in many cases, anxiety. I am dyslexic with three autistic children. Additionally, I have a nephew with ADHD - and my mum was a primary school special needs teacher, specialising in ASD.

How does this shape my teaching? Well - I feel I am particularly patient and am endlessly creative. I adapt and personalise content as much as possible and I spend extra time 'checking in' with parents and carers to see how they feel their child is progressing. I am always happy to meet new parents and discuss how I maybe able to support their family.

Some of the young people I work with, have previously attended school; some have always been educated at home due to family preferences. All are welcome and I am proud to state my support of home educated families, many of whom do not just 'get their children through' but (very sadly) have to fight daily in their efforts to go 'above and beyond' for their children. The more I step into this world, the more impressed I am!
